The laboratory deals with the development of instrumentation for space and traditionally works to support scientific teams, especially in the development phases of new instrumentation and payload proposal for new missions. The scope of application of the instrumentation is mainly that of solar system exploration missions. The laboratory also dealt with the stages of qualification and characterization of instruments as well as supporting the analysis and validation of data for instruments in the operational phase. Furthermore, the laboratory deals with the characterization of instruments and devices in thermo-vacuum and vibration conditions.
